Feige Filling delivers filling and packing machinery major-scale project Shell-Neft in Torzhok/Russia

Last year Feige Filling received the largest order of its history. At present filling and packing machinery worth more than 6 million US $ is being delivery to Russia.

The site which is now being set up in Torzhok in the Tver region northwest of Moscow will have a capacity of 200 million litres (approx. 180.000 t) per year. It will be one of the largest Shell factories for lubricants worldwide. The factory will begin operating at the end of the year 2010. Shell will use SAP as the leading production control system and the company ABB will be in charge of the process technology. The complete site will be coordinated by the Russian company Elevar which will hand over a turnkey site to Shell at the end of the year 2010.

Feige Filling is delivering several complete filling and packing lines for the filling of mineral oil into 1 and 4 litre bottles, 20 litre pails, 60 litre kegs as well as 200 litre drums.

The scope of supply also includes several additional systems such as rotary fillers and closing machines, automatic bottle de-palletizers and wrap-around carton packers for the processing of 1 litre and 4 litre bottles on two lines. The installation is completed with two Feige robot cells for carton palletizing including palletizing robots, empty pallet magazines, pallet conveyor systems and stretch-foil wrappers. Each line has a packing capacity of up to 6300 x 1 l bottles/h or 4800 x 4l bottles/h.

Mobile drum and pail filling machines are used for the filling of smaller batches. The customer can fill the containers directly at the receiver tank.

Two fully automatic drum filling lines type 84, the core competence of the established Feige technology, make up the drum filling section of this project. The drum fillers including automatic palletizing system have an output of up to 120 x 200 l drums/h.

The installation is rounded off with the pallet filling equipment type 26 with conveyor system for drums and kegs as well as the automatic pail filling machine type OC with following robot palletizing system. The pail filling lines includes the new high speed pail denester type E1200. During the implementation of the machine directive the machine design of the series OC was consistently adapted.

The Shell experts from different countries who visited the Feige site for the factory acceptance test were extremely satisfied with the Feige Filling's machine technology and the technology of our sub-suppliers. It was spontaneously decided to invite the colleagues from Shell Hamburg to Bad Oldesloe to look at the newly acquired machinery in order to take Feige Filling into account for future modernizations.

The site in Torzhok will be the most modern of its kind and also the first lubricant factory in Russia which was built by an international oil company under its own auspices. Since Russia is currently the third greatest lubricant market in the world a production site of its own has a strategic meaning for Shell. The importance of this project for the Tver region, where Torzhok is located, is emphasized by the announcement of the visit of Wladimir Putin for the opening ceremony.

Feige fills ready-mixed mortar into plastic bags

Following the trend, JUB thought about filling ready-mixed mortar into plastic bags. Economical and ecological advantages for the producer and the customer made the decision for the bag easier. Compared with the packing in conventional pails, less storage capacity is required and raw materials are saved.

Since 2003 Feige Filling has delivered 6 filling machines for the filling of paints and mortars to JUB in Slovenia and Serbia. This time the compact design of the semiautomatic bag filling and sealing machine type 4 and the minimal installation work required were the persuading factors.

After the operator has placed an open bag into the bag holding device he only needs to press the start button. The bag is held securely during filling and is supported by the bag support. After precise W&M approved filling in coarse and fine fill the bag is removed from the filler and sealed with a sealing unit.

Even for the cost-effective bag filler one important feature of Feige filling machines is not missing: Filling valves with minimum dead space and self-adjusting sealing, with quick connectors for quick change of product and efficient cleaning. For the filling of 30kg of mortar open polyethylene bags are used which have been enforced additionally. Up to 150 bags can be filled per hour.

Once again the Haver & Boecker Group has proven to be a cumulative technology competence. Not only are agitators from the subsidiary Sommer GmbH & Co. KG being used in the preparation processes. But all components for the handling of the bag from the filling to the sealing process were also acquired from the Haver & Boecker Maschinenfabrik.

Feige Filling Service - Fit for the future!

From the 4th quarter 2010 on Feige Filling will offer the Initial Calibration through Feige service personnel.

The legal basis for the „initial calibration by the manufacturer" is the required „EC calibration" for non-automatic scales (NSW) and automatic scales (SWA) which are put into operation for the first time according to the following EC guide lines:

1. Guide line 2009/23/EG, regulates the putting into operation of „non-automatic scales (NSW)".
The transition period for this guide line has already ended in 2002 and therefore applies unrestrictedly in the EU.

2. Guide line 2004/22/EG, regulates the putting into operation of „automatic scales (SWA)". This guideline is also often referred to as „MID".

(MID = Measuring Instruments Directive)

The transition period for this guide line ends in 2016!

At present our Feige weigh scales are already put into operation in many European countries so that the EC calibration also applies for Feige at the same time.

The EC calibration can begin immediately after completion of the commissioning through especially trained calibration representatives!

Due to this new legal basis the manufacturer is in charge of the organisation and execution of the EC calibration!

The EC calibration can be done according to the following modules and is then only valid for the first putting into operation of the weigh scales in Europe:

Module D: EC calibration by the manufacturer (initial calibration by the manufacturer)

Module F: EC calibration by a named body

The roll of the local calibration service will be assumed by the named body. They are registered with the EC commission.

When the EC calibration has been done Feige will declare the CE conformity.
