Feige builds a machine park for Delta Chemical Services in China

Delta Chemical Services plans to fill several sorts of  chemicals into drums. Some products may be aggressive or are toxic and produce foam or explosive gas during filling. Everything may happen!

To cover all these risks Delta ordered a machine park from Feige.

The park contains four automatic drum filling machines series 32 for the handling of drums and one pivoting pallet filling equipment type 26 for the filling of drums arranged on a pallet and IBCs. The nominal output of each of the machines is 50 to 60 drums (200l) per hour.

As protection against aggressive media the drum filling machines are executed in stainless steel in the filling area. In addition, they are suitable for filling of products that may produce explosive gas during filling.

Beyond the filling machines the machine park also provides for the transport of empty and filled containers as well as a palletizing system. The transport of the 200l steel drums to the filling machines is partially done via customer's drum lift.

The filling process of the open drums begins with the automatic positioning and filling of the drums with nitrogen as an initial step. For calibrated filling the drums are then transported into a stainless steel cabin which is equipped with lifting gates at the entrance and exit. A large exhaust opening in the cabin roof as well as an additional exhaust hood above the bunghole of the drum to be filled make sure that hazardous gases cannot reach the operation area.

A new development originated from the customer's request that the drums should be closed manually instead of automatically out of budgetary reasons. The low-budget solution that was created in cooperation with Delta is a second stainless steel cabin with exhaust connections that is connected to the filling cabin. The cabin can be temporarily opened in the top area for the closing and sealing process. This guarantees that the operator is protected from contaminated air as far as possible. At the same time Delta's budget was kept.

The machine park that was developed is a secure and future-oriented solution that makes filling of dangerous chemicals possible.

The installation and commissioning of the machine park is scheduled for the third quarter of the year 2010.

Teleservice via Internet

TeleserviceCustomary modem connections often have the disadvantage of a poor connection quality. In contrast the Internet offers connections of a better quality and above all a considerably higher data transfer rate.

The remote maintenance via modem usually limited to the connection to the PLC.

The characteristics of the teleservice via Internet make additional applications possible which support a fast investigation of causes should the machine shut down.

Mobile Service Camera - Support during troubleshooting through the live transmission of pictures directly to the service personnel in Bad Oldesloe

Operator Panel - Diagnosis of the machine status and support for the operator

PLC -  Better surveillance of fast-running processes

Palletizing robot - Status diagnosis, parameter and software modification

Image recognition systems - Faster transmission of pictures for evaluation

We are certainly prepared to send you more details regarding this application.
